Kevin Wilmott named CLU Presidential Scholar

Kevin Wilmott of Simi Valley was selected as a Presidential Scholar at California Lutheran University.

Wilmott, who graduated from Chaminade College Preparatory, is a political science major.

This year, 68 freshmen received scholarships ranging from $16,000 to full tuition for four years.

The Presidential Scholar program was established in 1997 to recognize freshmen of outstanding academic caliber who embody the university's educational goals.

A selection committee of administrators and faculty interviewed applicants from throughout the United States during a competition on campus in spring. The recipients have an average high school grade point average of 4.3 and average scores of 1260 on the critical reading and math sections of the SAT or 29 on the ACT.

CLU is located in Thousand Oaks, with Adult Degree Evening Program and graduate centers in Oxnard and Woodland Hills. With an enrollment of 3,900 students, CLU offers 36 undergraduate majors and graduate programs within the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business and School of Education. Doctoral degrees in educational leadership, higher education leadership and clinical psychology are also offered.
