Alicia Nunez Receives CLU Scholarship

2013 Aug 21

Alicia Nunez of Canoga Park received a scholarship from the California Lutheran University Community Leaders Association.

Nunez, a Spanish and psychology major, received $2,000. She studied abroad in Argentina in spring and assisted a professor in developing a curriculum for Oxnard School District's Mixtec population this summer.

CLA awarded eight scholarships totaling $13,750. The awards are given in recognition of the students’ community service, leadership potential and academic achievement.

The Community Leaders Association was founded in 1963 to stimulate the community's interest in the university’s academic, athletic and cultural programs. Members organize fundraising and social events throughout the year to support academic departments and student scholarships. The organization has provided more than $1.8 million through the years.
