Rebecca Cardone Elected to CLU Government

Rebecca Cardone of Katy will be the president of the Associated Students of California Lutheran University for the 2012-2013 year.

Students elected Cardone as well as the four other members of the Executive Cabinet. The Executive Cabinet plans and implements activities and programs designed to educate and entertain students and serve the community.

Cardone is a senior majoring in political science and global studies. Cardone is a Presidential Scholar and member of the University Honors Program. A viola player since the sixth grade, she was among the first students selected for the CLU Honors Ensemble and has performed in several university concerts. She is a political science departmental assistant, secretary of the Pi Sigma Alpha political science honor society, and a member of CLU's Interfaith Youth Core leadership team, Secular Student Alliance and Hillel club. Cardone, who is minoring in religion and philosophy, recently presented her research on "Human Rights, Religious Minorities and Democratic Duty: Symmetries Between Israel and Iran" at CLU's 2012 Festival of Scholars. As president, Cardone will lead ASCLU and serve on CLU's Board of Regents and Alumni Board of Directors. She will also be the primary liaison between students and the faculty and staff.

CLU is a selective university located in Thousand Oaks, with centers in Oxnard and Woodland Hills for graduate courses and its Adult Degree Evening Program. With an enrollment of 4,100 students, CLU offers 37 undergraduate majors and graduate programs within the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Management and Graduate School of Education.
